Right Here For Now
I have heard this given as advice a lot. My DD has a 30/19 and a 30/20 identical make and model and she hits the ball much better/harder/further with the 30/19. I have. been wanting to get her to the 30/20 but she doesn’t hit it as well.
Usually, this is due to 2 things. Either her swing mechanics aren't sound or she doesn't have the strength necessary to swing it. Usually, it's the mechanics. Not saying hers aren't good but I've had 86 pound 10U girls hit a drop 10 to the fence. Heck, I've had a hundred pounders hit an 11" ball over at that age and more than a few times too.

Remember, an inch of length generally translates into an ounce of weight as it affects swing speed. See if she can borrow another teammates 29/19, or better yet, a drop 9 although they dont make them in that length 😅 and see which goes further. You might be surprised.

10u, contact type hitter has been using a 29/17 lxt for a season plus. I'd like to get her away from the -12 but not sure if I should just look for a 29/18 or 30/19.

I wish there was some place close to us to try bats but no such luck.

Some good deals on used right now, maybe because of the holidays approaching.

-11 is really the lightest you are going to get with a good composite bat. So, going to a 29/17 to a 30/19 is fine, if she is ready for the length. The extra pop from a good -11 will make up for any temporary bat speed loss she experiences from the extra weight.

First year of 10u, DD1 swung a 30/-13 Bustos. She put many hits off the outfield fence with the Bustos. 2nd year 10u, Moved her up to a 31/-11, CF8.... First at bat with the CF8 was her first OTF HR.

Next day, DD2 had a 30/-11 CF8 for 8u.

Check the bat weight database. The numbers on the bat are sometimes meaningless in determining which bat weighs more.

Thanks for all the replies. Ended up getting a good deal on a 29/18 2020 lxt so stayed with the same length but added an ounce. Now just have to get her to use it this winter so she has confidence swinging it.

Probably move up to a 30 after the spring and try and sell the 29/17 lxt.
