Let me ask you something brother......Say the new kid took your DD's position, and your DD worked and worked and worked and worked to get it back, yet the other player was just better. Would you tell her "well, you did your best, sit on the bench and enjoy"

And as for your last point, Softball isn't nearly as much fun when you're not playing it.
Maybe she needs to learn another position. Competition within the team is the best way to become a better overall player.

What if she's just not as good as the player currently in that position? Sometimes, no matter how hard a girl works, they're just not as talented as the rest of the team. Coach may love her work ethic but she's not going to take a whole lot of playing time away from a kid who doesn't work as hard but is significantly more talented. Do those girls just keep working their butts off only to never take the field, or do they find a team that's a better fit for their talent level?

Obviously this is a different situation then what I’m talking about. This girl needs to move down a level to find an opportunity to compete for a spot.
