Part of it also is that the coaches don’t want her to play in the field when she’s not pitching. A lot of coaches want pitchers only.

DD's HS coach had plenty of options, but his top pitchers were also his best hitters and could play pretty much anywhere in the field. They were always in the lineup.

If you're a good player at tryouts, especially if you play for a good TB team, it doesn't make ANY difference if you played MS ball.

In central Florida, pretty much none of the public middle schools offer softball. The middle schools do have volleyball, soccer, track and basketball. Some schools are jr/sr highs and 7th and 8th graders can play JV/V. Same for private schools. The level of JV play and coaching is variable and can be pretty bad.
im in high school and my middle school did not offer it, im in florida if you ever need some help or wanna practice :)
