First, thank you everyone for your comments so far. As a dad my first order of business is protecting my daughter. I wish I had ascertained all of the knowledge that I have now prior to her first lesson. If I had, we wouldn't be changing everything after 18 months, but I feel that we're on the right path now with the new coach and the change in style. And after letting my daughter watch a few videos, she is equally happy with the change, and also wishes that we had started that from the beginning. For any that are interested, there are some links to some professional journal articles and presentations below. One of the things that I have done is when I find one, I try to locate the articles referenced in it, and that has led me too quite a bit a good research on windmill pitching. My hope here was that someone would point me to that which I have been unable to find. I'm guessing that somebody will eventually do it, but until then I'll keep looking. :)

Fishteach,

I have a plethora of journal articles that I've downloaded over the years - just don't have the links. I'll see if I can put together a list of the names for you... but this might take me a little bit.

It's fun being a dad!

See the Steadman-Hawkins bio-mechanical softball report. It is the result of a study done at the 1996 Olympics in Columbus, GA. Very interesting. It talks about the angle and sequence of arms, legs, feet, etc. to maximize speed and minimize injury risk.

Here is the link:
