Lighting the Fire - more consistently

I haven't been on DFP for 4 years, so this thread is new to me. This is something that has been in my head since my DD started pitching in 8U. How do they get in that competitive zone and stay in it. I used to try and coach her up and light a fire under her...but to no avail. Now, she is a sophomore in HS and the answer is so simple...

There is nothing we (as parents) can say or do to our DD's to get them in "that" zone. They do this on their own. For my daughter, it was around 14 years old. I've noticed the same for other young ladies, but could be a year ahead or a year behind. Some players are born with it. Mine wasn't, but she now has it.

So, moral of the story...as parents we need to step back and let them progress on their own. They will get it, and they will get it on their own.
