These 2 gloves were some of the dirtiest gloves I have seen that weren't left in the bottom of a pool or something.
The player's dad thought he was doing an excellent job of maintaining the gloves, he had spent a lot of money on, for his daughter.
He said he was just using "glove oil" on them but the gloves smelled like old motor oil.
If he was using glove oil, he was not brushing off the grit or cleaning the glove and just applying the oil to a dirty glove.
I wish I had had more time with them but he gave them both to me on a Saturday afternoon and needed them back at 8 am the next morning.
They literally felt like they weighed half as much when I was done with them from when I first got them

@Schmick's Gloves, glad you’re here, appreciate your insight on glove maintenance and repair. Looks like you’re very deep into glove repair and even the restoration side of things, and really like hearing all the glove products you use and prefer!

I’m definitely more into the buying, trading, collecting, and pattern recommendation side of gloves, even though I do clean and condition, re-lace, and break in, I’d much rather experiment with sizes and patterns then rip out padding and finger stays!

Glad you’re here, we all can definitely learn from you! Just tell me you’re definitely NOT a fan of velcro and we’ll get along great! ;)

Really informative thread! I have never really done a good job with this.

DD has a brand new DW5 courtesy an awesome equipment dude at her school so maybe it’s time to restore her old one!

I'm not a fan of the velcro wrists. There are ways to lace a wrist that makes them adjustable.

I havent posted here much because the site is very temperamental on my phone and I will get 10-12 errors for each time a page will actually load or a post will go through

I have a glove service, mostly it's a hobby thats kept me busy and out of trouble doing 15-20 gloves a week.
I dont collect much, I have a handful of Pro Preferred gloves though and a couple Wilson GOTM's. Mostly I just like relacing and rehabbing gloves and the look on kids faces when they see their old dusty pancake handed back to them looking new and with laces that are their favorite color or match their organizations uniforms

Just went to order some Lexol and ran across quite a few negative reviews. Seems like it's changed some and isn't exactly the product it used to be. Made in China now vs the old version that was made in America.

Has anyone bought and used Lexol recently? Surf City Voodoo Blend Rejuvenator might be more $$ but might be the way to go? What do you say fellas?

I've used lexol for 35 years and have never had a less than perfect result. As a matter of fact I have a terribly ugly moldy glove that I've promised to clean and condition for a player

Used it in the past as well...question now though is it still the same and as good? Have you bought and used any in the past year?

I’ve never had a problem with Lexol, great product that’s been a great product for years! But, there’s probably 5 bottles here that date back awhile, still the old brown bottle.

I’m going to say, I personally like the Surf City Voodoo better, and that’s not a knock on Lexol.

But if you’re thinking of buying something new / different, take a look at Ball Players Balm, Dan Davis swears by it, it’s his go to now!

I'm going to order some Lexol and hope it still works like it used to and doesn't stink as bad as some are saying it now does! I've got leather seats in a couple vehicles that might get a nice rub down too.

The BPB is interesting, I looked at it when it first got mentioned here....maybe an early Christmas present!
