DD's team played their last tournament of the season since HS SB is starting back up (hopefully we'll be able to play with covid). We only played in 4 tournaments - first tournament was back in March and we played well but just couldn't get a win - held everyone really close. Last game of that tournament was a almost 3 hour game as we had 3 ITB innings.

Next tournament was our first back in June - again - pretty close each game.
Third we won our pool games and were seeded 2nd in our division. Lost on a walk off in our last bracket game.

Yesterday - started our first game by getting 10 runs in the first inning. Ended up run ruling them so our first game was pretty short.
Second game was a team we had lost to in another tournament and was an older team. Were down 0-4 but came back to tie it up. Ended up 2nd seed. Our bracket games ended up being the same teams we had already played but we ended up with a win over the second team 8-2. (Other team coach even had a big argument with the ump about strike zone - he should have gotten thrown out)

Championship game we knew were going to lose. This team had been killing all of the other teams. We are a first year 16U team with several girls who should still be in 14U. This team was majority graduated players who were already committed somewhere. Held them at 2 runs for a few innings. They hit two HRs against us - sitting with another mom from that team - heard that several girls - it was multiple HRs for them for the day. Their defense was too much for us and we only got 2 hits against them.

But we made tons of really good plays. The other team knew they were playing a younger team - it was actually a team from our own organization so it was fun to have us both in the championship.

Anyway proud of my kid - she had a few double plays and some great catches. Hit well - drove in a lot of runs. Good way to end the season :)

Very nice! Always fun and satisfying to see your kids play well and surprise you with their abilities, even when they don't bring home a plastic trophy to polish over the winter.
