Looking for some thoughts on infield everydays. We did some stuff last year that was probably better than nothing, but I'd like to tighten up that aspect of our practices (also, my JV coach took a teaching job at a different school and he ran those, so I have to put something together anyway).

I really love this Ron Washington clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDlnzZs4DUU

Since the girls will be pairing up for this, I won't be doing the fungo portion. And I don't have any pancake gloves, so I will have to get some or improvise there.

But in general, I'm looking for about 10 minutes of work (we will do other infield work, of course, but I think any more than 10 minutes of an everyday activity and they'll lose focus).

Anything beyond what Washington does there from a fielding standpoint? I will of course want to get some throwing involved, too.

Anyone know where to get the padded glove like that....seen the flat ones but not the ones like the video.

Thanks

ABCA has started putting out some YouTube videos as well - user name "ABCA1945" - just watched the one with Kai Correa - he does a great segment on everydays. (link should start playing @ 7:00 mark). He mentions using the lip of the infield grass as a natural "barrier" - knees about 6-12" back, to encourage the player to field the ball out in front. Also note his hand position - fingers pointing down, palm facing the ball - not whole hand/glove on the ground.

And of course there's the Antonelli videos on them as well.

I'm trying to use these with my first year 10U team - as you may have already observed - patience will be needed. Who knew simply rolling a ball (accurately!) to a partner could be a challenge in and of itself?
