I always taught my students to 'Shove the glove' right at their target, the catcher's mitt. Shoving it forward and looking over the tip of the glove like rifle sights. Doing this pretty much forces the pitcher to get their shoulders open and where the shoulders go, the hips follow.

As the ball starts down behind them, pull the glove back to the hip, the 'Holster position, as they closed the hips to 45 degrees.

Doing this maintains balance and the more balanced you are the smoother the motions. The smoother the motions, the easier it is to throw faster.

Glove side shoulder

I have my students focus on keeping their glove side shoulder aligned to the target.
This allows them to better visualize where their head needs to be, as they maintain balance and force towards the target.

If the shoulder is in the correct plane, the glove will lead.
