With 2 strikes. At what age would you recommend showing your hitter how to hit a quality pitch foul to extend the at bat?
I don't think you teach foul balls. Two strikes, I teach a little shorter (hands a little more in front) and stay aggressive (don't go down looking) which will result in more foul balls.

Do you think it is easier or harder for a softball hitter to hit a high pitch with velocity based upon the differences you gave?
Good question.

*As for whats harder or easier to hit.
That answer is in the hitting mechanics.
I hit rotational. CRUSH RISEBALLS.
That said batters come in a variety. Some rip fast pitching but hard to adjust to slow and vice versa.

Like when catching...
Illusion with control mixing speeds and location 👍

Like when hitting...
PITCH THE BALL, THROW YOUR BEST, PROTECT YOURSELF !!!!!

Good question.
Velocity doesnt always equal movement or control.
Take spin and location over velocity.
Low mid 60's can be great
Over higher speed.

Batters come in a variety
Some hit speed some can sit back and rope a change.

Illusion with control mixing speeds and location 👍
I meant baseball vs softball since you mentioned differences.

Oh...
Baseball when i had the oppotunity to play in womans pro league yes paid...
Much easier to read baseball pitches.
imagine that came from reading fielders throw overhand my entire career.

They had farm league guys throw batting practice.
A high fastball was still comming down (trajectory of pitch) into zone.
Actually everything looked like it was comming into strike zone.
Ripped that little pea baseball to the wall.
My bat trained to hit head high pitches.

Very different than softball pitches starting in zone and moving out.
More spin and locations!

Ok so you would say hitting a high fastball in baseball would be easier which would make hitting a high rise that much more difficult.....you see where I am going with this?

I said the pitch is easier to read in bb.

Hitting is mechanics.

And nope sorry, dont see where your going.

Some batters do not throw rise to.
Others yes every at bat.

Same could be said of change up....or....

Ok well I am going to go for harder to hit, all things being equal (e.g. mechanics), since reading the pitch correctly is part of hitting as is swinging (e.g. mechanics)

I was advocating, as a strategy for MOST hitters,to lay off the high rise in general. You sort of disagreed with that. I then gave baseball hotspot charts for the best hitters in baseball where it showed they had a hard time with high fastballs. You asked why I was showing baseball hot spots when we were talking about hitting in softball and I am now saying that it is a valid comparison since you are claiming (ok not really but I extrapolated for you :p ) that hitting a riseball in softball is harder than hitting a high fastball in baseball.

Got it? Good

They dont pitch riseballs in baseball...
was my point. ;)
Or low release point toward an upward trajectory.
No compairison. 🤪🥳🧐

Successful hitters can hit everything.
Many mental hitting strategies

For a pitcher a good one is
great for the tool box!

I only played softball, but was fortunate enough to hit off a baseball pitcher as well. I agree picking up the ball from pitchers hand, much easier in baseball. Regardless high heat is really tough to hit, baseball or softball, and the hot zone diagrams prove that. I am confident that hot zone diagrams would show the samething for softball. Be selective with < 2 strikes, look for a hitters pitch.
