We've (my dd with me giving some tips) have had some pretty good success against the riseball. Very rarely strikes out. Here are a few thoughts -
1. A hands to the ball mentality struggles against the Riseball. Possibly because your hands are "chasing the past instead of the present". (I just made that up but I think it makes sense)
2. An approach that focuses on turning the barrel into the path of the pitch and is rotational with an early hand pivot point and use of the shoulders in the swing seems to help my dd recognize and get to the rise. A distinguishing characteristic is the bent front arm moving upward at swing initiation.
