I can't hit. I am truly awful. I never played baseball/softball - grew up on cricket and all my instincts are basically wrong and frankly I wasn't much of a batsman there either.

That said, I am a solid infielder, I have excellent throwing/catching skills and I can catch a college level pitcher (well lesson anyway) and can throw outstanding coach pitch. But a lot of that is because I have a sold level of athletic talent (ex D1 basketball) versus REAL skills.

44 years old. Played baseball through high school and slow pitch for 20 years after that.

I can throw.

I can still do okay chasing down fly balls.

I do alright hitting 60mph softballs off the machine when we are at the cages.

I can not for the life of me field a ground ball while moving. I just can't move and get my glove down at the same time.

That said I would absolutely be cut from my girl's 14U team

I'm 50. I can't do what I once could. If I try, I'm very sore the next day.

If I was my DD age, she'd run circles around me. I would have been cut from her team. Please don't tell her that, though.

I still brag to my kids about the triple I legged out about two years ago in slow pitch. I turned on the jets right out of the box, but man, the plow I was pulling seemed to dig deeper and deeper as I rounded 2nd.

I can long toss with them, they are only 9 and 12...in a year or two, that isn't going to happen without a lot of pain the following day :)

I'm in the same boat. My girls put more into sports than I ever did.

And I get sore. Getting old is a bitch.
