How far a pitcher jumps out

Be cautious when it comes to emphasizing a long jump from the rubber. I have seen pitchers that jump a long way but have poor posture when they land, they are tilted forward, out over the front foot rather than behind it. It's better to focus on the pushoff rather than how far out you can land.

DD as a young pitcher was told over and over to stride as far as she could by both her PC and her dad (lol). At around 15 she moved on to a new PC tincher coach.. who challenged that thinking and helped DD pick up 3-4 MPH and better her control by shortening her stride and by doing so it allowed her back (drag leg) to move faster which helped her pull more power into her front side. The dots were connected.
