How do you know what "type" of hitter a player is?

DD can definitely hit over outfielders and into the gaps. She's never hit one out yet in a game. It's starting to seem overdue to me, but she's hit the fences before--I'm sure it will happen eventually. Mom just needs to stay patient. And yeah, when she lays into one, it makes everyone turn and look. She's had OPS of 1.417 and 1.382 in the past, but her stats were down in travel last year OBP .490 SLG .587 OPS 1.077 (injuries, broken bat and needing new glasses!) and are probably further down in HS ball this year. Her HS coaches had her batting down around 7th, I think, and that seemed about right to me. She has potential, but the upperclassmen have a lot more experience with the HS pitching. Travel usually has her batting in the 4 or 5 hole, but she's been tried in many slots, though not sure if 2nd in the order has been one of those. I know 1st has, which is a little strange since she's not terribly speedy.
