I have problems with swinging through, so how can i change it where i swing all the way through? Also, when i hit it goes to pitcher, 2nd base, or first base. How can i make it go out in the outfeild where i can get a base or more?

hitting farther

The best drill that i have ever seen for good follow through is, deflatted basketballs off of a tee.The bat bounces back if you don't follow through. This will also help with strength.Bat speed is huge in your situation. It sounds like maybe ,since the ball goes back to pitcher or to first base, you are not catching the ball far enough out front. The farther out front you can hit the ball the better since you have had a longer swing to develop more speed and power.Hope this helps and practice, practice, practice.

Hitting with more power

Most all kids and young adult hitters...male or female, do not hit with the power they desire because of a dead lower half. Women especially need their lower half (back hip) to fire as the hands reach the power channel, due to a weaker upper half then men. That being said, men would also have more power if they used there LH. How to train this?? Work with an expert...ask me! There are other factors, but this is the biggest.

lack of power

One very common casue of the low power swing and lots of grounders to the infield, I see in players is rolling their wrists at or just just prior to contact.

Make sure your middel knucles are aligned in your grip and arriving at the contact point with the "palm up palm down".

The deflated ball drill is a good way to build strenght and you will feel the differnece if your wrists are rolled versus in the the "strong" palm up palm down position.

I have also seen taking lots of slow motion dry swings with a heavy bat ( like a 34/28 slowpitch bat) helps you feel the bat better and correct the swing; rolling you wrists with a small light bat is easy to do but not so with the big bat.

Remember most player s who roll have often been doing so for years and a habit is a tough thing to break. Plan on lots ( 1-200's swings a day, maybe a 2-3000 total ) to get a new habit totally burned into your head so that under game pressure its automatic.

seek the assistance of a fitness professional

Of course there are drills you can do to improve your power, but if you lack the functional strength to perform these drills correctly, then you will potentially develop bad habits in your swing and/or increase the risk of injury. Seek the assistance of a fitness professional to help develop your functional strength in order to increase the efficiency of your swing and maximize your bat speed at contact. As athletes, we often get away with being athletes and can complete a task around or in spite of our limitations. These limitations include strength, flexibility, balance, and stability. When addressed, they will naturally allow your body to become more efficient in it's movements and your swing will improve. (of course this is in addition to consistent tee work)

Now let me think, where can we find a fitness professional? ;)
