Been around softball practically all of my life, playing, coaching a rec team, watching my daughter play. Now I am coaching at the JV level as an assistant. Just today, I find out that the head JV coach is leaving. I want to step up but I feel that I don't know enough about the strategies of the game and how to be a head coach at this level. I want to learn everything I can from everyone here, especially pitch calls and other things so that I can make sure that our girls have fun but prepare them for the varsity level and beyond. Any help, suggestions, advice, whatever, would be GREATLY appreciated!

go for, but remember, as JV coach, first priority is player development, not wins. if your not going to play them, cut them.
