DD just started playing 8u coach pitch this spring and made it onto the 3rd string All-Star team. She is the 2nd smallest girl on the team, but is fastest. Coach has her batting #1 because she almost always gets on base. They played in 5 games at the district tournament this weekend and she made it on base every at bat except for one hit when she swung early and knocked a grounder right to 1st. When she first started she usually would hit slow grounders towards SS/3rd or strike out. With lots of work with her batting coach and practicing at home she is now mixing in some good solid line drives with the grounders she normally hits towards SS/3rd. One of the games this weekend she started a rally of singles with the next three batters. Opposing team tried to throw my DD out at 2nd, then 3rd, and then home on the next three hits. It was really close, but she beat the throw every time. Really proud of her and many of the other parents comment on how great she is doing.
