Just wondering if there is a decent cheap old composite that somebody has had success using in cold weather. Was thinking a used one I could pick up cheap so it wouldn't be a big deal if it did break.

If its for a player just use your normal bat. Bats fail for various reasons and cold weather is not one to be concerned about.

I live in an area where we play in the cold/freezing conditions a few months out of the year.

Easton Mako or OG Ssr3b can be found very cheap on ebay. They are tanks and once broken in will perform with any “new” bat. My DD uses a FP11ST10 for dimples.

Just find an old model of the current bat on ebay that is beat to hell and if it breaks it breaks. And yes cold weather does effect breakage.

Kind of what I planned. She went up an inch this year so I have two exact matches to what she's using except an inch shorter. She can use those if I can't find a beater cheap.

If it has to be composite I’d go with a heavy thick bat like 2018 PXT, 2016 Mako, or 2017/2018 Rawlings Quatro.
