Maybe DD's new coaches have the right idea. We're only playing in 2 fall tournaments (DD's least ever since starting travel ball), but practicing 3x a week.
If you want to get better as a player, well-designed practice/workout is critical. If you want to get better in terms of 'team-play', you have to play games. So depending on whether you are a player or a coach means you might look at things differently. Best answer, of course, is both.
As a player on a team that might be playing a lot or even 'too many' games and not enough opportunity to practice/train, individual, away-from-team training is one answer. Another is smarter pregame warmups designed to train skills and not just get players 'warmed up.'
