Dp/Flex

If a team has 10 players and they set the lineup using Dp/Flex, if a player gets injured (not the dp), can the flex move into that spot in lineup? I know flex can bat for dp, but if another position gets hurt, can the flex take that spot, or does the team have to go with 8 batters and automatic out?

In USA softball rules, DP can only bat in that spot in the lineup. can not bat for any other player. same with Flex. Flex could not bat for anybody except DP spot. If no other legal sub, you take an out everytime the position comes up in the lineup. But since the DP can play defense for anyone other than the flex, you can have 9 in the field but only 8 batting with the out charged for that vacant position.

Like jack said. Take an out if you don't have a sub

Had a team try to do that a couple weeks ago. Umps were going to allow it. Not on my watch! (and they had subs they could have used instead of the flex)

Using the dp/flex option with no available subs is not the smartest move.
