Diagnose this problem please

several of the hitters on my team are swinging consistantly under the ball. sometimes they clip the bottom of the ball, sometimes 2-4 inches under. This is off a pitching machine- not a riseball. A couple were overstriding, but not all of them. Whats the most common problem & cure Thanks Lane

This is the problem with pitching machines, they throw with a riseball spin. The most common problem I see with that is that they aren't tracking the ball as long as possible. I usually ask my hitters if they swung under or over the ball. They should be able to answer without guessing. Then I tell them to adjust.

Yeah there may be mechanical reasons too but I agree with cshilt.

Cure? Try lots of tosses, from the front and lots of tee work.
