Thought I'd start a new thread instead of hijacking the other.

Hopefully one of the umps can answer this. I haven't had time to research it.

Can there be a delayed interference call applied at the end of a play? My understanding is when interference happens it's an immediate dead ball and all play is stopped. Or is an umpire allowed to unwind a play to the point where the interference occurred?

Interference is ALWAYS an immediate dead ball with only one exception and that is plate umpire interference with the catcher on a steal or pick off attempt.

I guess that it is possible for a play to develop, then for an umpire to realize after the fact that it should have been interference. That's not the way it's supposed to work (see Comp's answer above). But umpires may go back and correct missed calls. That might make it look like a "delayed interference" call, even if that's not what the rule book calls for.
