She has a connection between the hands/upperbody and front foot. The upperbody begins as the front foot is opening, and the back knee doesn't start to move down and in. The hips/core is not being utilized.

I see it as a disconnect of energy. The change in posture during the forward move to the foot down portion is killing the energy transfer.

I would like to see her maintain her posture as well as see a moving ball put in play as Pattar suggested.

Her lower half is good imo. The disconnect is killing the speed of the swing.

Hi All,

Back again. DDs most recent swing is above. She’s 9, plays 10u B level.

Sorry for slo-mo but that’s how DW taped it.

Working with her on rear foot needing to not be angled backwards.

We’ve been working hard last 2 months. Making some progress on bat drag that has been a nagging issue.

Feels like her arms are kind of weak at and after contact. Any thoughts on how to correct? I’m seeing her lead arm getting fully extended too soon and possibly leading to contact too far from body.

Open to thoughts.

1) Move the tee. It's too far forward.
2) Fix the bat drag by elevating the front elbow to shoulder height when the rear elbow drops to the waist. Keep the distance between the elbows constant.
3) Try the Stretch-N-Fire drill to swing deep.
4) Get her to stride against the front leg. Pushing hard against the front leg will help her get off the back leg, fix her posture, and get her sequence in proper order...legs then core then shoulders.

Two new swings.

Still working through a bunch of small things, but directionally going the right way I think.

Once the weather gets warm I will try to get outside and have some live swings.

Open to any feedback, this forum has been quite helpful.

Elevate the front elbow/forearm to the plane of the shoulders as the back elbow drops in. Keep the distance between the elbows constant. She'll create more space to swing and get more bat speed too.Screenshot_2019-10-23-22-09-07.png20180526_144514.jpg

Trying to teach her to keep hands back until core begins to launch and then have hands come through. She does seem to pull hands/ back elbow a little on their own.

Based on her height and weight, every recommendation Ive seen for bat size is 30/19.
Most HS girls use 32 inch. They are 7-8;years older. Get the picture on her bat size? She should be using a 28 inch. unless she is big and strong for her size. she needs to control the bat. In the video it looks the other way around.
