Their mistake was not understanding that the issue was not the speed of the pitches, it was the not getting strikes. Once they got that, their pitching usually improved a bit. Although, it is still difficult throwing a good strike when you get called out in relief and only get a couple of pitches an inning.I see that to be the case when coaches with good intentions just lob the ball with a high arc as has already been said. Its reduced a large amount when its thrown with more speed. Because it forces players to use a more natural bat path.
