Tried to video her at our scrimmage Saturday but my phone messed up, will try again tonight.

I had never heard the term “gym step” until now. I just had it called on a team this weekend. Pitcher was taking a step and I asked the ump to keep an eye on it. He said it is probably a hole and she can’t drag. I told him it’s not a crow hop it’s a dang walk up at this point. He finally understood. Lol

Sure it is and girls do it to shorten the distance to the catcher and subsequently throw harder. DD teammate now does it and throws smoke during warmups. Once in the game she can't do it and loses a ton of speed. It's mental with her.
