Okay- back story my dd hasn't quite reached her potential hitting and we've just switched some things up (thanks to this site and helpful posting and some private responses). She just turned 10 so i havent expected a lot of power. she's always had good timing but had been flipping her wrists for some unknown reason. So for about a week or two she's been working a few days a week trying to fix that and get arms extended and get under it a little. Went to practice tonight and she left her cf zen 29/18 at home. She used her aluminum easton 30/13 cage bat while hitting live pitching and she couldn't get the damn ball out the infield with it. Granted she's never been driving the ball out consistently anyway. Coach grabbed a 31"/?drop cf8 and had her choke up. First pitch was a bomb that came about 10ft (guessing) from clearing the fence. Everything after was flying off the bat faster than anything i've ever seen from her. I was floored. I hope like hell it's from the work but i suspect the bat pop was the culprit. Coach said he babies that bat. Anyway just thought i would share and see if anyone else has seen such dramatic difference.
side note- took her to a well recommended hitting coach in april who trashed demarini and composite bats in general. He suggested her to an easton crystal which is basically the same bat she has as a cage bat, only newer. Didn't make sense to me.
