DD Committed yesterday!!!

What is her major going to be?

After a long, tense wait for admissions acceptance, DD committed to play in college!

This was her #1 choice of school - she has turned down a lot of other offers and a lot of other interest from schools in all 3 NCAA divisions and NAIA schools to go to the school she wanted to be educated at, and the one she knew she wanted to be at from literally the first time she stepped on campus.

She will be going to a NEWMAC school up in the NorthEast - those that know me personally know which one. (or you can message me and I will tell you)

This was a true journey.

DD passed on D1 offers for a variety of very good reasons. DD wanted to go out of her home state of Florida for many of the same reasons. DD wanted certain things from the school - she has been on way too many campus tours. She pursued the school relentlessly. Camps. tours, turning up at games, official visit. The hardest part was convincing the coach that she REALLY wanted to go there and wasn't going to commit elsewhere when a couple of the Ivies showed interest.

She had to wait way longer than all her teammates and peers because while the softball coach advocating for you helps with admissions at this school, there are zero guarantees. Her coach only found out she got in 10 minutes before DD did. Softball absolutely helped DD get admitted.

Yesterday was a great day!

Having been through this, I totally relate. Congrats on the outcome you were hoping for. Definitely a marathon and not a sprint. Starting planning those trips and get your ESPN+ subscription if games are broadcast.

What is her major going to be?

They don't have to declare a major until end of sophomore year, so though she has some ideas, I expect what happens by that time will be very different. This is actually one of the reasons she wanted this school.
