We handle this based on OF reaction. If the OF is heading towards the fence the M IF will take the cut. If the OF are getting closer to the IF 3B/1B will take the cut. There is no reason to have players running past each other. Give them a simple cue and practice it. We have even gone as far to implement trailers for base hits off the walls which we call automatic doubles. That takes some work but can be helpful.
