Daughter is a pitcher and 3rd base. Getting custom glove for college in school colors (white, yellow, purple) and before I purchase one thing I wanted to ask about. She has the base color shell in white but the inside (palm) is purple. She did this as she said the white tends to yellow quicker, especially in the palm. Can she have a 2 tone glove as a pitcher? Or could a batter complain the coloring is a distraction and make her change gloves?

thanks for the rules guys

You can find pictures of Syracuse pitchers with white and orange gloves and LSU pitchers that have purple palms. Just no yellow.

ASA Rule 3-4, clear as mud.....

***(Fast Pitch Only) The pitcher's glove shall be of one solid color other than white, gray, or yellow optic, or if multicolored white, gray, or yellow optic shall not be included in the colors.

Edit:
I think some of this rule may fall under the umpires discretion, but...I'm not a umpire! To be safe, use nothing optic yellow, the glove, the laces, or anything that would match the color of a softball.

So to be safe....old school Tan with Tan laces will always work! ;) And NEVER go out of style!

I don’t get the reference to white or gray, as lots of pitchers use white gloves. Barnhill with two different multi-color gloves with white and blue.

So would this be legal, with the white web?

The reference to White/Grey was removed from ASA/USA rule books, I don't know when, but it is not in my 2020 copy. The NCAA has slightly different wording. See both below.

NCAA 3.6.2 Gloves/mitts may not be the color of the ball but may be any combination of other colors.

ASA/USA rule was updated still Rule 3 Section 4
(Fast Pitch Only) The pitcher's glove may be of one solid color or multicolored as long as the color(s) are not the color of the ball being used in the game.

My guess for the reason of the differences is ASA/USA softball still allows white colored softballs (10-under Boys and Girls; 12 to 18-under mandates optic yellow, while NCAA mandates the use of optic yellow.
So would this be legal, with the white web?
If NCAA yes, USA/ASA yes (if yellow is being used) or no (IF a white ball is being used, 10U only); check the code you are playing under.

Wait, by reading this I'm under the impression that white gloves are not allowed? This is huge news.
