Couple of DD's swings

RH was quoting me, but hasn't figured out how to use the quote feature ;)

What I'm seeing is this hitter rotating her entire torso (hips, core, shoulders) as unit, rather than creating stretch/resistance through the core for her source of power. The rear leg over-rotating (heel flopping outward) seems to be a result of the torso rotation action. I see similar issues with my DD sometimes.
Thank you for the clarification Eric.

I believe what you perceive to see is being caused by an overcooking of the torso load in the direction orthogonal to what most folks believe hip rotation should take place in.

You asked 4 questions can we answer each one separately? When referring to resistance, is this in the loading portion of the swing?

I didn't ask any questions.

I don't know what you consider the "loading portion" of the swing (I've heard this used a few different ways, and don't generally use that term myself).

As I see it, stretch/tension is created in the core as the top half resists against the forward turn of the hips. Pullback into the rear scap is generally how I describe where the top half resisting action is happening when talking to a hitter. IMO, it should be a flow into that resistance/pullback during the pre-launch portion of the swing rather than pre-setting the pullback earlier in the process. That said, I have asked some hitters to pre-set scap pullback to help them get familiar with the feeling.

FFS ask you questions thru me.LOL He thought he was asking me but the questions were really intended for you. Ok, is the lower half (right knee/ right glute) resisting the upper half during the loading portion (moving out) making sure the the upper half doesnt over counter rotate and creating tension?

I think we are on the same page...but maybe not. IMO, the hips and shoulders rotate back together as the process flows into the move out. The rear knee resists getting turned with the hips, creating tension around the rear thigh and hip. This tension is maintained on the move out - Forward By Coil. Tension in the core happens later.

Do the hip rotate back less than the shoulders? Some would teach that the hips "must" stay parallel to the plate and only the shoulders rotate or show the numbers/ hide the hands. I think maybe the hitter should "feel" as if the hips are not rotating back but in reality they do some. I like the feel that the back knee is holding its ground and activating the glute and the core.

I like the hips and shoulders to rotate back together (whole torso) while creating tension around the rear hip. The hips resisting getting turned rearward against the turn of the shoulders has never felt "right" to me.
