He's a little confused here - it's not the back instep. A better cue to fix this is to keep the back heel on the ground as long as you can.

And in his demo he is striding with his front leg, which is exactly the opposite of what he says he wants to fix.

So, I'm a no on this one.

It’s crazy how much he is moving forward, not a good visual.

Popups are a pretty good indicator the bat is too flat at contact.

it's in the first move of the barrel...This is a classic drop barrel and then swing around.

Other than that she appears to have great rhythm and confidence in the box. A little better attack and she'll be dangerous.

I'll try and simplify my response by not getting to technical.
She's dipping (collapsing her back leg) and swinging up at the ball. Stop dipping/collapsing her back leg and work on rotation like she's standing in a barrel. Keep a strong back leg.

I see youger players that have hands to far away from their body. They tend to compensate incorrectly to make contact. That weak back leg or dipping causes the bat to have an exaggerated swing up trajectory.

Still slotting elbow early. Look where their elbows are at just prior to heel plant. Also most have shoulders still slightly down hill at this point of their swing.

Here we are about a year later.

Gonna need to change the hand path to work from above the ball. Look up the Bonds Drill on this site. Start on a tee. Place a target about 5 feet in front of a tee and bounce the ball off the target. Add side toss or front toss and do the same thing until the hand path stays on top.

Take a look at Altuve's swing from behind and look side by side. I have tried to have my DD exaggerate this feeling of hitting from on top.

my dd trying to stay on top and use posture to allow the hands to get thru. not perfect but you get the idea.

1st tournament of year

Sounds like cows - LOL.

I would like to see her tighten up her hand pivot point. Right now, her hands loop to bring the barrel around to contact. I would prefer to see the hands stay connected with her shoulder longer and pivot the barrel around the hands before the hands get launched forward, out from the shoulder.

This feeling might be helpful for her...

The only thing I would add to what Eric stated, is the loading of the upper. She is loading the upper before the lower. Try and get the upper and lower happening in sync. This will go to also help with what Eric stated above. IMO
