Hope that title grabs some attention!!!!

COACHES.....
Why is this continually happening and getting worse over the years...?!!!
Watching 12u travel ball this sunday again saw this....
*Specifically speaking to developmental years...

NO PRE-GAME WARM UP COACHING SUPERVISION OF PITCHERS AND CATCHERS ?!!!
NOT EVEN AT BEGINNING OF THE DAY OF SOFTBALL!!!!

Geeez...then they go call pitches uuhhggg....
And...

NO CATCHERS WARM-UPS THROWING FROM CATCHING POSITION???!!!

Certainly there are some coaches that take care of this and do it nicely... thank you for paying attention to the coaches who do!!!!

*However to the coaches who are not paying attention to this...

*PLEASE MAKE IT A PRIORITY !!!

THANK YOU !!!!!

****Parents this should be on your list to make sure your young athletes have good coaching and prepair the entire team befor games!!!!

LET'S GROW SOFTBALL!!

Enjoy :)

Uggghh..

We just left a team.

Warm ups were insufficient IMO - then when they changed pitchers they would just pluck someone from the bench or the field with NO warm up at all. Usually with Bases loaded with Aarona Judge up to bat. Then you wonder why the girl hits the ball to the parking lot.

Hate to see teams where Pitching and managing pitchers is an after thought.

So, here's my take. OP's DD is a catcher and is concerned that his DD isn't getting enough pregame practice time to throw down to 2B.

As others have already mentioned, space is a big concern. Not only do you need 84' 10 1/14" but you need to account for overthrows and missed catches and 2B, so....more like 100 feet. Aside from that, this isn't really the time or place to be working on that particular skill. I played catcher for 10+ years and I never practiced throwing to 2B during pregame warmups (other than the one throw down allowed by the umpires). Standing long toss is enough to get the arm warm enough for the throw to 2B and you should dedicate a portion of practices to throwing from the squat position.
