I thought in general batters should not be choking up on her bat.

Has that changed in the last few years?

Always tried to have hands at bottom of bat, 2 strikes maybe choking up.

When should a batter choke up, if ever?

I think something is wrong when they start the game choking up.

Choking up can be Personal preference on
~ Balance of the bat in the individuals hands.
~ Where an individual may prefer the knob to be. Against palm or not.
~ Choking up can be incremental adjustment
With familiarity of same bat.
~ Choking up can help intended purpose with the bat bunt, drag, slap, swing.

If I choke up, the swing feels completely different. I don’t like part of the bat below my hands. My hands just don’t feel right when this happens.

Bonds said he choked up because he grew up swinging bats from MLBers..not sure if that is true or not and I didn’t have that “problem” 😂

Arguably, you can exert more force by butting up against the knob, and if you can't swing that length of bat, why did you buy it? But otherwise, as long as you practice what you put into the game and it works, I'm relatively OK with it.
Definitely not a fan of choking up to "protect the plate" on 2 strikes or changing your swing in any other way during an at bat.

individual preference

I choke up on a 34"
~Dont like knob hitting palm.
~Prefered the balance when coked up.
~Utilized small ball into hitting strategy.
~worked! set a hitting record at the WCWS.

Also know one of the best hitters in the nation used to hold on to the knob
Litterally her palm beyond the knob.
Can see holding with fingers.
That is Liz Mizzera batting for Texas A&M
