So when we need it its ready to go!

How about a checklist?!

1. Straps- wear out lose elasticity. Are they tight enough?
2. Fitment- did we grow.
3. Helmet face pads get gunky.
wash / replace?

clean the velcro
look for cracks in the face mask
check your shoelaces for wear
Is your emergency repair kit still fully stocked?
etc....

We've lost several face mask screws from the various batting helmets we get. We just added loc-tite to the baggie of spare nuts and bolts. Although, the red tube I was given may be overkill - if a screw still comes loose with that stuff on it, they're probably swinging a jack-hammer instead of a bat.

End of season clean out is always disgusting. Wrappers, half drunk bottles, bubble gum, seeds, smelly cooling towels ... the list goes on. Granted, this is more of an issue for my non-catching DD who has much more room in her bag for all that crap and is generally more of a slob.
