makes contact with the ball (still in the box) - she is out.

Not necessarily. It is a foul ball unless the umpire feels the catcher had a play on it. What I am looking at here is how did the catcher react. Was she diving out and could have gotten there? I probably have an out then. Or was she sitting on her knee savers watching? I have a foul ball then.

Edit: I am making an assumption that it is likely in foul territory since a drag bunt pulls the batter away from the ball unlike a slap that typically propels the batter into fair territory.

It would only be an out if the ball was in fair territory when she contacted it. You'd need to be 100% certain that the ball was in fair territory to make that call!
