With the implementation of the new transfer rules it was bound to happen but soon after the 2019 Boise State softball team's season ended four of their non-Senior players have entered into the N.C.A.A. transfer portal - two of the four signed to play with the former Boise State head coach (Cindy Ball) at Central Florida. That being Boise State's # 2 pitcher for the last two years, Gianna Mancha, and infielder Justene Molina. The other two, pitcher Tori Bivens and infielder Halle Harger, have not yet signed to play elsewhere.
Without question the biggest loss - of these four players - was the loss of Gianna Mancha. Boise State has responded to her loss by signing Hannah Bailey from the University of Minnesota. Bailey had been pitching for the last two years with the Gophers and in 2019 Bailey appeared in 8 games for Minnesota and had an E.R.A. of 2.68 in 15.2 innings of pitching. She started one game in 2019 and pitched a complete game in that game.
By my count Boise State has also added 5 new freshmen for next season but I could be wrong on that count (corrections are welcome). Here is my list of the new additions for Boise State for the 2020 season:
Autumn Bennett - SS/2nd Base from Redlands East Valley H.S. in Yucaipa, CA. She posted a batting line of .440/.580/.487 en route to earning All-Citrus Belt League honors. In addition, she was a Golden Glove award winner and first-team All-CIF.
Jalen Ervin - SS/2nd Base/OF from West H.S. in Tracy, CA. When she signed to play for Boise State in November of 2018 she had a career batting average in H.S. - at that time - of .396 in 61 games.
Bella Rocco - 3B/1B from Jurupa Hills H.S. in Fontana, CA. Rocco was named the San Andreas League MVP in both her sophomore and junior seasons for Jurupa Hills. Rocco had originally committed to play at Louisville but signed with Boise State last November. Prior to her Senior season Rocco had posted a batting line of .591/1.137/.599 during her career, with 33 home runs.
Elle Everett - C/1B/UT from Snohomish H.S. in Snohomish, WA.
Jordan Schuring - P/1B from Saint Francis H.S. in Mountain View, CA.
