My daughter just fractured her pinky toe 2 days ago. Dr said she will be out for 1-2 months. She is very upset as these are crucial times with tournaments and her being the starting pitcher. Any advice from past, or present players, parents that dealt with this before? We would really appreciate it.

Welcome to DFP. Tough one, but unfortunately injuries are part of softball. My DD was out from the last week of Feb to first week of June this year with an injury. She missed fall ball 3 years ago with an injury.

Sometimes a break is good as it lets them experience how much they love and miss the game when they can't play.

How old is she? I would definitely listen to the doctor on waiting to return to play until she is fully healed.

Practice spins for the riseball. That can be done just standing or sitting in a chair.

Are there any sort of exercises she can do to strengthen her non-dominant side while hurt?

Go to games and observe. Keep score.

Thank you for your input @Dabears17 ..My daughter is 14 and plays on a 16U team. We too agree with listening to the dr, we haven't seen the podiatrist as of yet tho. It's really hard for DD to watch her team play and not be able to be on the field with her team. She's made remarks of feeling better and wants to go out. My husband and I want to speak to the specialist first before jumping into anything too soon.
We are having her do her Xcelerator and spins, as you had mentioned. Also having her do her situps, pushups on knees, etc, just anything not involving her feet.

Use this time watching her team to see the game from another perspective. Be a student of the game. She will come back with a better understanding of what is happening all around her and start seeing the game as a bigger picture.

As much as she hates it, if she can gain insight into the game, she will be better for it. Also, if your team uses it have her run gamechanger, if not running a scorebook (correctly) is a great way to understand the game. When should she charge an E? Who gets the E?

Learning that walks and sacs do not count as ABs.
Errors are not base hits and count against your average.
How does ERA work?

These are things that will help DD become a student of the game and frankly she will be better for it.

Careful with that Xelerator. I've never used it, but the video they have on their YouTube channel looks pretty bad. It seems to promote some really bad mechanics (straight arm, ball pointed toward second base, etc.).
