Bumping.

I realize this is old. But I'm curious as there isn't a lot of information / reviews on this bat. Thoughts?

I'm guessing no one has used one of these? Seriously considering buying one to try under their 30 day Axe challenge.

My daughter received the bat on Friday. She likes it, but is still unsure about the axe handle. Tested it off the tee yesterday in our garage. It's a 30" -11 bat. I kinda wish I would have gotten her a 31" just because of the grip the bat seems smaller compared to a traditional 30" knob. Just because of the angle of the grip. The sound off the bat isn't what I expected. I assumed since this was the powergap, aka double wall like the ghost, or prism. That the bat would sound similar it doesn't sound the same. Not bad just don't expect it to sound like a ghost or prism solid hit.

I'll be testing some data with her other bats just to see how it compares. Also I want to see how the bat does when we can get out on a field, when it gets a bit warmer. Doing some soft toss and tee work.

That's my early review for now.

More information to come when it gets warmer.

Let us know how it compares.

My daughter was the same way about the handle. I think anyone would be, it is a change. Last year was her first year using an Axe. This winter I ask if she thought she would need a new bat next year. She said "I don't care what bat I get as long as it has an axe handle."

Also during the MLB playoffs she saw Mookie Betts using an axe handle. He is now her favorite player. Unless you count Ken Griffey Jr. but he's not playing.

With nice weather finally a review of hitting with the Axe Avenge Powergap 2020. My daughter is a 9yr old, but just turned 10 this past week. So keep that in mind when reading this review. Results may not be the same for everyone. I've compared this bat against two others I have access to. The Demarini CF 30" 19 ounces & The LS LXT 30" 18 ounces. The Powergap is a 30" 19 ounces for clarification.

I'll start off with saying my daughter loves her Demarini CF. I can definitely tell a difference in holding these three bats back to back. The Demarini CF has the weight balanced in the bat perfectly. I believe that is why she prefers this bat. Even compared to the lighter LXT at 18 ounces. The CF feels a lot lighter. All hits were done off a tee to be consistent. With my daughter hitting all three of these bats back to back. All of the hits seemed very similar, distance wise. She typically hits to shallow-mid center field when hitting off a tee. So between all three of these bats there didn't seem to be much difference. Pitched balls may be a difference, as I plan on her trying out the Axe in her little league softball games, just to see how it performs. I'll update that later. I used the Garmin Impact bat sensor to record some data, and here are the averages.

Keep in mind these numbers have been averaged already. I'll include an attachment of the original data I was working with for those interested.

From the numbers the Demarini CF definitely seems like a winner between these three bats. The interesting number of note for the Axe Power gap is the time to Impact. I notice it's a tenth faster. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that stat, since it's off a tee. I'd assume that it's easier to lay down the barrel to the ball. This would be due to the axe handle design. So that could possibly come into play with a faster pitcher. My daughter still isn't sure about the Axe handle. She does say it feels very comfortable in her hand.

Once games start I'll update again with how it performs then, or in practices.

Please feel free to provide me with some feedback.

Thanks!

Any updates on this? They've also redesigned the bat since the 2020 model. My daughter likes the handle (and the new colors which we know is a top priority). It is close to time for a new bat.
