Most of you probably know these already but 2 ASA rule changes going into effect on the 1st.

Batter using a chin strap is optional.

Batter can use either on deck circle .

I didn't see the on deck circle rule. I'm not sure how much I like that one.

One of the things I like most about ASA was that they had to stay in their own on deck circle! But, I love getting rid of the chin strap. My DD will be ecstatic.

We already, for the most part, use either on deck circle. It slows the game down a little bit but the on deck batter is to close to the actual batter for it to be safe.

I think you nailed it quincy. I think this rule is all about the safety of the on-deck hitter. I've seen way too many girls get hit by line drives from a late-swinging batter.

Removal requirement of B players being from same league

Interesting.... requirement for Jr. Girls Fast Pitch B team players being from the same league has been removed from Article 307 H 03 D

What was thought process of removing requirement for chin strap?

It probably had to do with the fact that most girls' chin straps were hanging so low it would not have served it's purpose anyway, which was to make sure the helmet stayed on the head.

Agreed. I don't recall ever seeing a chinstrap snug enough to actually do its intended job.

Thanks.... just wondering the liability issues if our rec league keeps the requirement in its rules and the national organization has removed it.
