A weak coil and she doesn’t reach the top of the mountain causing her to fall forward on gravities time frame and not hers. Timing gets thrown off. Now the swing doesn’t feel quite right. Hit balls get caught because the pop isn’t there so we rotate or laterally shift a bit to get going and things vibrate further out of control. Add A few strikeouts and doubt creeps in focus evaporates and the ball looks the size of an asprin and now she swinging reactively at balls out of her zone or miss balls she normally destroys adding to frustration.

The exciting thing is she is one swing away from change............

After going 1-for-17 over the previous 3 weekends, Maddie had a 3-for-6 day with 7 RBI. Fingers crossed that she is finally turning a corner and returning to "normal".

It was a feeling of relief for her, really....and then some celebration.

She was one of the faster Ps that Maddie has faced in the last few weeks, but not significantly. First AB of the game, she threw a great change-up on a 1-2 count, and Maddie couldn't quite hold up her checked swing enough to keep the barrel from crossing the plate. The GS in her second AB was sweet redemption. Slower pitchers later in the day, Maddie also hit hard with line drives for a single and a double.

In nearly 110 degree heat, Maddie's team played in a 1-day tournament this past weekend. They won 4 straight games and took the championship. Maddie had a solid 5-for-8 day, with a pair of HRs in consecutive ABs (different games)...

She is brutally strong and quick. Does she lift weights?

She started doing strength-training work after a phase of physical therapy to sort out a nerve issue in her shoulder/arm. I think she was 13 when she started, and it had been a 1x/week session up until things closed down in March. Not a lot of heavy weights. Mostly a focus on core strength, balance, and explosive power movements. She has continued a little at home since the shut-down, but it hasn't been very regimented.
