I guess it depends what you are looking for. Bunt coverage, hit and runs, What are you looking for?

Are you asking about fundamentals (actual catch and throw), technique (types of catch and throw) or play coverage (when to catch and throw)?

DD is 10u, so nothing too tricky. Just typical who covers what base with runners on various bases and ball hit to various areas of the field. Player position on the base to minimize risk of interference calls, etc.

My daughter and I watch a lot of games. I will ask her before the pitch if you are playing 3rd base and she hits it to you what's the play or if she hits it to SS what do you do, ect, ect. Different positions, plays. Then we talk about what the play is if she was wrong or go into more if she was right. She is really good during games about knowing where everyone is and what the plays are whether she is catching or in the field.

The main thing to learn at that age. Force vs no force. Ball, base, and then backup. Bunt coverage.
Also with a runner on 2 and 3rd with less than two outs and the ball is hit to 3rd....do you want her to throw it and potentially score two or hold the runners and have a force everywhere. Depends on the level of 3rd, first and Catcher.

I agree with everything you said except for this. My DD's coach takes this approach at times and I hate it. The right play is the right play, regardless of whether you have Yadier Molina catching or Yadier Yoddler catching...For example my DD's coach has all the infielders throw home with the bases load and less than 2 outs regardless if they are up 10-0 or not. Yeah I get it, they aren't turning two at that age (10U) but so what..at some point they will be able to turn two and then you have to re-teach them what the proper play is....That particular situation I gave is the one and only time I came close to talking to her HC during a game but then thought better of it...I just talked to my DD the next day and explained to her what I though the proper play should have been (it was hit to the SS..if it was hit to the 1B, 3B or pitcher than I can see how going home may make sense).

Yeah I follow you here. My daughter is our 3bag so it's a signal as to what I am thinking based on the score and situation. More than anything if she makes a good choice in the moment, I'm for it.

Two other questions. Level (travel or recreation). How many and how long are practice. It kind of matters if you have 5 one-hour practices vs. 10 two-hour practices.

The difference is like landscaping. If you only have a short time then move the big rocks, it will make it look better quickly but not perfect. If you have more time then pick up the pebbles so things look crisp.

Then DM me your email and I can hit you with a practice plan. I ran a number of leagues/travel teams and have all kids of stuff for various levels.

This is rec ball and I am one of three assistant coaches. Head coach is more of a manager and let's the three assistant coaches run practice. We have been practicing twice a week for 1.5 hours. Generally do 0.5 hours of warm ups and throwing drills and then an hour of practice on the field. Sometimes with the coach hitting balls, other times with the girls hitting off a pitching machine. I'm focusing my learning a bit more around 2nd base since my DD is trying to win that spot, but I do need to learn the other positions. DD and I practice on our own as school/work allow. Games start next week on Tuesday and Thursday so unfortunately practices will drop off to almost none. I'll send you my email.
