Hi, I have Marc's article supporting using dynamic warm-ups but wanted to find at least a couple more to share with my daughter's new coach. Unfortunately he's of the "jog around the outfield once then static stretch" variety so I wanted to have some good proofs of the importance of using DWUs prior to practice & games. I've done a Google search but haven't found anything too useful yet.

How about Men's Health, October, 2009, page 116 (at your news stand now):

A 2008 study of 24 Division I college wrestlers in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning found that static stretching didn't produce any improvement and in some cases led to a decrease in measures of speed and strength. Dynamic stretching, the same study found, is best before a workout to fire up and prepare the muscles for activity by going through a functional range....

Anything written by Thomas Kurz. I was doing dynamic stretching over 20 years ago....maybe 25. There is nothing new about it...if coaches haven't heard of it by now...they really need to get caught up a little! :)

Hey! New to this forum. I hope to provide as much quality information on training protocols and nutritional recommendations as well as learn some things from everyone else on here. Check out this great article by the NY Times about Dynamic Warm Ups. Agreed above if coaches aren't implementing this by now, they need to catch on fast!
