Grapette's and RR Gold usually host good tournaments in Stockton (usual participants include Sorcerers, Lady Hustle, Strike Zone, all ASA National contenders)

Salinas Storm usually host good tournaments in Salinas.

All of these are ASA A level tournaments. Let me know if you are more interested in B ball or USSSA/NSA stuff.

14U age group. I've heard Stockton has good tournaments. We are just looking for a little better competition. We are a B team but play at a fairly high level. We will see what happens this year. Losing 1st base, SS, CF. Younger girls coming in.

Anyone have dates for the tournaments or contact info for Stockton. We are trying to plan out our summer.

I'm not coaching but helping my DD with homework from the coach. He wants everyone to continue with his program and thinks it would be better for the girls to do more advanced tournaments. The girls were getting bored playing some of the teams over and over. Played some A teams last year and had success and want the girls to continue growing.

Here's another site that I use: Capitol Sports Association (click on youth tournaments on the left). The coordinator is very good and puts on a good tournament. Usually the lower end A ball teams will go to the "A" tournaments.

There's a big gap between A ball teams that are just A ball teams because they're private organizations and not part of leagues (mandantory for B ball) that compete at what really is B ball level, and the elite level A ball teams that consistently play in the national's every year.

Maybe try going to a Grapette or RR gold tournament in early spring to see how your team fares at the elite level, and then make up your mind about how to schedule the rest of the summer.

Thanks. We played some of the Capitol Sports tourneys the last two years. Probably do some more of those and some of the Stockton ones. They are fun. Softball is an addiction. I'm not sure who likes it more me or my DD and she's the one urging practice.

One thing to keep in mind, since you're 14u, is that USSSA and NSA pitching distances are 43' for 14u this year, while ASA remains 40'. You will see USSSA and NSA friendlies that also have 40' distances, but sanctioned tournaments should be 43'.

I know our 14u program plans on going all ASA this year (we play mostly ASA anyway) to avoid the pitching issue.

DD practices at 43. We are in a 40' TB group but DD also started HS this year. We played one tourney last year where she had to throw from 43. It was a lot of fun and she did great for having never done it before.
