Hi,

My daughter is on a very good team that will be 12U next year and based in Eastern Canada.
Our primary goals will targeting our provincial and national championship events.

I find the number of sanctioning bodies in the US difficult to track and coordinate.
Can any of you help to explain the proliferation of "World Series" or "Nationals" tournaments that are out there?
How they rank, from both a competition and "fun' factor? Difficulty in qualifying?
Any experience playing other teams from Canada?
Assume we'd focus on playing in the NorthEast Region, from Maine to Ohio.

I'd like to see our team tested. Don't wish to travel 6-8 hours to lose (or win) by 25-0 scores.

Thanks

In New England, I find USSSA is the most competitive. The weekend tourneys in Hartford, CT pull from New England, and NY teams, so the competition is strong. However, Nationals is in Maryland.

ASA (now USA) is also very good and their Eastern Nationals is in Connecticut for 14's. You will find teams from all over New England and the midwest attending it and will be challenged for sure. Unfortunately, U12 you'd still need to travel to Virginia.
PONY is also down in Virginia.

I am not an expert on Canada, or Canadian teams, but I do have a friend who's DD is playing for the Canadian National Team due to holding dual citizenship. Anyway, my suggestion would be to come to the US to play as much as you can. Try to get to CO for July 4th tournaments and to CA for PGF at least once when the girls are 14-16.

I don't know, I should write this in this thread or not. But is there any team in India?

My DD's play out of the Vancouver area and we constantly travel to Seattle for tournaments (only a 2 hour drive). We are going to Vegas in February and will probably play a tournament in Oregon this year.

I definitely recommend playing US tournaments. Really good ball and its a great bonding experience for the girls.

My daughter plays for a team in southern Ontario. We've been to one tourney in Buffalo and placed pretty well considering the differences in age brackets.. 6th out of 25 teams. Like I said the age brackets are different. The girls were mostly 2nd year Squirt, but ended up playing a first year novice team from Vaughn in the playoffs and beat them. 12u in Canada is not the same as 12u in the US, you will end up playing older girls. Also if playing 12u, in the States they use 12in balls, pitch from 40 feet, and bases are at 60ft. In Canada, 12u pitch from 35 feet and use a 11 inch ball. So there are some adjustments for the 12u division. Considering all this we placed very well. I definitely recommend playing US tournaments. The people I met were great, tournament was well run and the competition was top notch. Great experience for the kids and the parents.

I hope the motor city showdown is good tournaments as well.

In Canada the "U" is in front - so U12 CDN = 11U USA.

Motor City Showdown has been a good tournament in the past - I am sure it will be this year as well.

The all sanctions "World Series" tournament in Columbus, OH is a pretty good tournament (its not as good as PGF) and usually has a couple Canadian teams in it. My daughter is u12 playing in the 12u this year and it is July 26-29.

Yep.. Looking forward to the Motor City Showdown. We played in the West Seneca Magic tournament in Buffalo 2 years ago. Lost in the quarters to a team called "The Diamond Girls" who ended up winning the tournament.

The Ringneck Tournament in Sioux Falls, SD always has several teams from Manitoba or western Ontario. It’s the same weekend as Colorado, but they still get some very good teams in it.
