Hello all! Hope your summers are going well and your teams are successfull!

We will be registering our team as a first year 16A for the 2013 season and are looking at attending more college showcase tournaments. Being from Colorado and recognizing that the number of showcase tournaments are minimal, I wanted to reach out to the larger softball community and ask...what are some of the better showcase tournaments to attend? We currently have the Triple Crown Fireworks and Sparkler running here in Colorado and I hear that the Fireworks is the more respected of the two, but that is pretty much it for us in land locked Colorado.

Any info/opinion you can offer is greatly appreciated.

The Fireworks tournament is somewhat restricted...it was only taken over by Triple Crown in the last couple of years, but the tournament itself has a long history and the same top organizations keep coming back year after year, leaving very few openings for new teams and a sizable waiting list. I believe the Fireworks is an 18U/Gold only tournament as well. In addition to the Sparkler, there is also the Boulder Independence Day tourney played in Boulder, CO at approx the same time. It is a 16U/18U showcase type tournament as well. Teams from all across the country come to play here and there is a waiting list for new teams, I understand.

If you do a bit more research, I'm sure you can find lots of different showcase events in Southern California, Las Vegas, and Arizona that could possibly work for your team as well.

Rising stars in Fla, Frost classic in Chatt Tn, Orland sparks in Chi. Stingray in Cols Ohio. All of these are college magnets

One of the best is probably in your own backyard:
Indy tournament

With you starting in 16s, your recruiting mode should be fully ramped up and the Indy Boulder is what showcases are all about. Lots of coaches babysitting their commits but also coaches (from D1 to JCs) trying to fill rosters with both immediate (2012) and future (2014, 2015) needs.

Come out today to see the 18s:

I watched a game in the firecracker on tv,I have to say this the 2 teams that where playing a Texas gold team and a Worth team from Ca..The pitching was not very good IMO,the one pitcher couldn't throw a change up to save her life.I was kind of shocked,I now feel that my dd could pitch for a high level team if that was the best out there.

The pitching was NOT the best out there, but the team as a whole has so much talent it didn't need to rely on its pitching to win.

Don't let the TV fool you. I believe both of those pitchers have already inked D1 sholarships. Those were two of the best teams in the nation. I know the girl from the Texas team is going to South Carolina. I believe the girl from the Firecrackers is going to Michigan. Hard to see movement on TV.

As a side note, I also think that every girl on the Firecrackers is going to a big D1 team. I heard at another tourny that all 14 girls on the roster signed D1 either Pac 12, Big East of SEC. Sounds like that coach has some major connections.
