I have googled and still not found an answer of how to properly record in the score book a batter who hits the ball with a foot (or both feet) entirely out of the box. No question on the rule, the umpire properly called the girl out, I just have no idea what to write in the book? I was thinking of recording it as batter out of box but the acronym seemed highly inappropriate for a girls softball game (and for that matter pretty much any game).

.... and I carry some sticky notes, so I can write down what really happened. Sometimes, there is no where on the scorebook to write a note.

you could call it a box violation. Stepping on home plate may be the same thing, you're still stepping out of the box when contact is made.

I was doing book for my DD's JV game last night and this happened. I wasn't sure how to score it and the coach didn't know either. I told her I was writing down BOOB (Batter Out Of Box). She smiled and said, "Perfect, I'll know exactly what it means!" I guess next time I'll add PO-2 to the score.
