My Dad umpired for years, and later became a coach. He addressed every umpire as Sir or Ma'am, and occasionally Mr. Umpire. I've always followed suit, because I assumed that's how he, as a veteran umpire wanted to be addressed. Blue seems too informal to me, but I've never heard an umpire object, so it must be fine, but I don't use it.

I don't call umpires by their first names during games, because I've heard parents and opposing coaches comment about coaches who do that, like "Oh this ump is his friend, that's why they get all the calls." It's usually completely unfounded, but I don't want to open that door up. Also to me sir shows an earned level of respect like calling a teacher Mr. or Mrs.
