Re: Mandatory Play & reentry

A team has 13 players.

A starter meets her mandatory play requirement (1 at bat).

A sub enters the line up & she meets her mandatory play requirement.

The starter reenters the game in the exact same position in the batting order.

Must the starter now meet her mandatory play requirement AGAIN for her sub to be reentered, or can the two players sub in and out freely because both have met mandatory as long as they maintain the same spot in the batting order.

Example:

Sally starts and bats in the first inning.
Jane subs for Sally and bats.
Sally reenters, but has not batted since reentering.

Can Jane sub now?

Example 2:
Sally starts and bats in the first inning.
Jane subs for Sally and bats.
Sally reenters and bats.
Jane reenters and but does not bat.

Can Sally reenter now?

Thank you for your help.

Back on the dirt...
Example:

Sally starts and bats in the first inning.
Jane subs for Sally and bats.
Sally reenters, but has not batted since reentering.

Can Jane sub now?
Yes she can and both have fullfilled their play requirement.

Example 2:
Sally starts and bats in the first inning.
Jane subs for Sally and bats.
Sally reenters and bats.
Jane reenters and but does not bat.

Can Sally reenter now?

Yes, again both have fulfilled their play requirement.

We have also set our lineup and then subbed a bench player the first AB so if it comes to a tight point in the game, we have a stronger player in to fill the need.

Sally is in lineup
Jane bats first or second inning then sally bats the rest of the game.

Hope this helps.
