My daughter plays on a 12u B team in Maryland, would she be allowed to guest play on a Pennsylvania 12u C team? If so, since they are different states would she need dropped from her current team for the weekend she would be guest playing?

It all depends on the sanctioning body rules, and the individual state's rules. If it's the same org, like USSSA, then a "B" player picking up with a "C" team might be a problem. If it's two different ones, it's probably not an issue. The coach of the 12C team in Pennsylvania would be the one primarily responsible for finding out.

I wouldn't drop my DD from her current team's roster just to guest play. While guest playing shouldn't be a problem for the current team's coach, you shouldn't make him jump through admin hoops to make it work.

Would you like your 12U B team facing an opponent using guest 12U A players?

Absolutely...our team is into developing the best players that we can, therefore we like to challenge our girls. Maybe it's not that way across our great country?

Teams that sign up for B tournaments are expecting B level talent (ditto for C). Some of those teams ARE being challenged already; if they wanted to face A level talent they'd sign up for an A level tournament. If you want your team/player challenged you play up. This post contradicts your original post, because you're wanting your daughter to play down, not up.

If your team is interested in challenging your girls, I would suggest reclassifying yourself as an "A" team instead of a "B" team. And based on that, I would not even consider having your DD play for a "C" team. Seems counter productive to me. If you want her to guest play, find a 12U A team that needs players.

Must mean Pennsylvania ball so so good that moving from Maryland B to Pennsylvania C is a step up!

To the OP, yes we like to challenge our girls. That’s what A is for.

Sorry, constructive criticism doesn’t comes off pretty snarky in posts sometimes, especially when it’s getting piled on. DD has played on plenty of B teams and it gets VERY frustrating when teams play down or have players that clearly don’t belong there. From a players standpoint it’s not going to serve them playing down, especially if they prefer a challenge. Facing lessor competition brings about bad habits and it’s just not much fun winning 15-0.

More in line with your question, as someone else stated it only matters for rosters if you’re in the same sanctioning body and pursuing the same Nationals. It would impact the lower C team because they can’t have higher level players where a team can usually have lower players without issue. To save yourself a headache, make sure both coaches know about it and you’ll be fine.

I’m guessing there’s a reason she’d want to do it like playing with cousins or someone will have to forfeit without an extra player. If that’s the case I’d just have her play an alternate position, for example, if she’s a pitcher, play her at 3B.

Best of luck!
