I would also score this a double. However, if the left fielder is simply playing a routine single coming her way, and then flubs it (bounces off her glove, etc.), then I would score it as a single and an error. Based on your description, the ball bounced off her glove due to the dive, so double.

We had one this year. Routine ground ball goes through the 3/4 hole. The right fielder allows the ball to go right between her legs and all the way to the fence. The runner reached third standing up. I ruled that a single with a 2 base error. It was a single all the way, but the runner should not have been able to get past first on that play.

I'm not questioning the effort of the LF by any means. I love the effort as well. I wasn't trying to come off that way at all.

I legitimately wondered how to score the play. There have been a few scoring debates this season and this was one of them. So, I thought I would get the opinions here. I learned something.

Thanks to all!
I was just having a little fun with the response. But scoring can be strange. My wife used to score for our hardball team long ago and she was brutal. One time 3B dove for a screaming liner to his backhand down the line that went off his glove and she like "That's an E5 right?"
